RC Objects Not Rendering Over Network
« on: April 30, 2019, 08:29:21 AM »
Hi there,

Recently started using RC and have problem I can't solve. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a scene with multiple RC objects. When I render on workstation  all is good. When I send an animation (or still) to network render rail clone objects are not rendered. Some of them disappear and than render and disappear again. Progressively it is getting worse. By the end of 100 frames no RC objects are rendering at all.
Scene is complex (about 6.5m polies) but it renders without problem locally. Render nodes are even better spec, so that shouldn't be a problem.

What I tried so far:Turning display to mesh, switching off instancing.Turning Layer with segments on. Object statistics show that all is OK.
Problem persist for both Backburner and Deadline.

We currently have one RC licence and 20 render nodes

RailClonePro 3.2.0,   Max2014-64bit, Vray 3.6, Windows 7

Hi Arterra,

Sorry to hear you're facing these troubles. Please double check that you installed on all your render nodes the same release of the RailClone plug-in. When installing our plug-in(s), you shouldn't be running any 3ds Max or related (v-Ray spawner) service(s) during the installation process.

If possible, feel free to send us your scene and we'll have a look at it here. Ideally, would you mind to try to reproduce the problem with a minimal scene and send us such a scene?

Also, please do a quick test using the RailClone Tools and export all distributed geometry to instances. You can find it under Utilities - More ... - RailClone Tools. For more information about it, check our on-line reference guide. This way you can check that the problem happens during the RC object conversion or not.

Thanks in advance for any further comments on this issue you can share about it with us / our user community.

Best regards,

Arterra

HI Michal,

Thank you for your quick reply. I'm currently under a tight deadline but once that's over I'll follow your steps and try to diagnose where the problem is.

Hi Michal,

IT manager says that all nodes have the same RC version
I did instanciate the RC objects in the scene, as you suggested, and that rendered fine.

Unfortunately I can't send you the scene as we are under a non-disclosure agreement.
Any other suggestion what might be wrong?

Do render nodes check for RC licence before rendering? They might be competing for server time and then failing? Any limit on number of nodes per RC licence?

Hi,

No, render nodes don't use any license at all. They don't do any request to the license server, and there is not limit on the number of render nodes.
I don't know what may be the problem, but must be some technical issue related with the render itself.

Does it happen only with this scene, or is a general issue ?
Did you try to render a RC test scene (less complex) ?
