Title: I can't open the the Style editor though the button is pressed.please help
Post by: cc8boy on June 26, 2014, 11:10:51 AM
I double clicked the title area of the Style editor window by mistake. The Style editor window disappeared. I tried to press the `Open Style editor` button again. The Style editor window didn't show up again.
Then I exit the 3DSMAX and reopen the 3DSMAX. I reopen my scene file. How to reset the the Style editor window? I'm gonna crazy now. Please help me immediately. Perhaps the Style editor window was out of the screen.

Hi,

Please, try deleting the following key from the Windows registry. That will restore the Style Editor settings:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Itoo Software\RailClone\Style Editor

In RailClone 2.3.0b we've added a workaround to recover from this issue just reopening the Style Editor.

Kind regards,

Thanks for your help. I managed to reset the window. But I think this is a very very basic problem. The style editor window should have a minimize button and a Maximize button. We can minimize like Thinking Particle editor window.

I found the Style window will easily disappear when it is on the second monitor.

And when will the official version (not beta version) of railclone 2.3 release ? I'm begging iToosoft release 2.3 version as soon as possible because my license will expire in July.

We didn't include minimize/maximize buttons by design reasons. Removing them we can use a smaller title bar, which is a benefit on single monitor environments. Also the Style Editor is closed automatically when the RailClone object is deselected, so usually it's not necessary to minimize the window.

Regarding the final version, we have plans to release it in the next weeks (there is not a date yet). But really there are not "stable" versions, because once that most of users move to the new version and test it, some bug may appear, and therefore we have to release new patches.

I found it disappear when I double click the small bar on the second monitor. It never come back unless I delete the registry entry.
But I think a maximize button is necessary. Maximizing the editor window on the second monitor is very common. Many people use multiple monitors today. Please think about it.

Thanks for your suggestion, we'll think on that.

Although i cannot reproduce the double click problem in my computer, we'll try with other configurations. What is the resolution of your primary and second monitor ? (that may be significative, according this (http://forum.itoosoft.com/index.php?topic=1901.msg8092#msg8092)).

Yes! I got the problem which is almost the same as his. My resolution of primary monitor is 1920*1080. The second is 1050*1680. My monitor layout is almost the same as his. `The red area`as he said is bigger than his on the second monitor.
But Thinking Particle Editor never disappear on the second monitor wherever it is.

I don't know what graphical library uses Thinking Particles, but the library which we use for the style editor is not natively supported in Max, so we had to use alternative ways to get it work. Probably that is causing the problem.

Unfortunately Max doesn't include any resource to implement node editors, so each developer uses their own solution.
