Title: Ideas for this kind of shape
Post by: TQ2762 on October 25, 2016, 01:54:35 PM
Hello everyone,

I have a "complex" geometry to model in max. It is simple to model in 3dmax, but since the design may change, i would like to keep it parametric to make my life easier.

I have simplified what kind of shape i want to achieve on the green geometry attached, and what i have in the other image.

Since the geometry is sliced, i couldn´t think in any solution to work with railclone until now.

Any ideas?? I really appreciate it.

Hi,

For this purpose, you might find handy following "Apply RC to Poly (http://forum.itoosoft.com/index.php?topic=2928.msg13321#msg13321)" script. Attaching a sample scene with possible style set-up.

To recalculate the sloped panel height you can use a Arithmetic Operator with a simple trigonometric Expression: Input1/sin(Input2) where Input1 corresponds to exported Y Size Attribute of used Segment and Input2 is linked to the X Rotation of the RC object - this is needed to be inserted manually or "wired" from its controller.

Hope you'll find it useful.

Best regards,
