Title: Incremental Staircase Tread Width using Spline
Post by: Ryan on April 24, 2018, 09:43:34 AM
Hiya

Does anyone have any tips for creating a staircase that increases in width per stair tread from top to bottom?  Currently, I am using an L1S generator, a standard box segment (which is stepped in the deform tab) and a spline to create the stairs direction and height.  How would I adapt this so the bottom or top tread is width adjustable and the treads between adapt incrementally?

I have looked the Christmas Tree II tutorial for ideas but this uses a segment to dictate the height and not a spline which I am currently using.

I hope this makes some sense.

Hi Ryan,

I created a starting scene with couple parameters.
Let me know if I understood correctly what You want to do, If not exactly- please explain in more detail:

Hi

Thanks for replying back.

It was the width of the step I was wanting to change from either the top or bottom and the steps in between would gradually increase or decrease to suit, see attached example of the effect I am trying to achieve and my initial attempt.  The trouble I have is that I do not know how to attach the stair height to the length of the spline.

Regards

Oh ok, I am sorry for my mistake and I misunderstood width with depth.
As You have not attached Your setup, I modified mine (see attached file with new parameters)
