Title: is this Possible?
Post by: biglittlepictures on August 31, 2018, 04:18:13 PM
I have a client who makes automated belt systems.  So what I need is a belt with a support under it.    I think I could do the whole job with rail clone if I could determine the belt path,(done) then determine the start and end heights.  So the floor to belt stack would look like this.....   FloorAttachBeam/StraightVerticalRails/BeltAttachBeam/Belt.

So the floor and the belt heights vary throughout the facility making the support height vary, which can simply be a stretched version of the straight rails.

I feel like this would be similar to a roller coaster assembly or something.  Can anyone advise or point me to some useful info so I can learn?  :)

Thanks world.

Hi

It is hard to understand from Your description alone. Do You have a modeled pieces You want to make style with? Please attach Your attempt first so we can better understand what are You building and what challenges You are facing.

In an effort to help users get acquainted with RailClone, we have an ongoing series of tutorials (https://www.itoosoft.com/tutorials?tag=rc&page=1) you may find helpful, and detailed documentation.
I would recommend you to check our RailClone "Getting Started with RailClone (https://docs.itoosoft.com/railclone/getting-started-with-railclone)" followed by our "Next Steps with RailClone (https://docs.itoosoft.com/railclone/next-steps-with-railclone)" guides too.

I think i get it most of what i needed.  The only thing i am unsure of is how to you make railings be evenly spaced between two splines?  One spline represents floor height, and the other the platform height.

The gist would be this.  Clone the segment, every 10 feet, along this SplineA, and make it as tall as SplineB.

Is that possible?  If ti is, then I could extrapolate the rest.

I am not sure I understood, but If that is what You want then it is possible:

Yes, that's the first part... an array.  The caveat I am not sure of is how to convey is to get the height to be dynamic based on another spline.  It may need a 3D array.  Here's a quick simple scene of what i was attempting.  it poses two questions, I've just included them into the attached file since it may be easier to understand exactly what I am asking.

I think You can find this  (https://forum.itoosoft.com/railclone-pro-(*)/auto-scale-bridge-pillars-to-an-uneven-ground-plane/msg10129/#msg10129)useful in Your setup:

This is quite interesting.  Thanks for sharing and for your time helping!  I have 12 miles of belts to build, so RailClone is going to be my savior!
