Limits when rendering?
« on: March 19, 2019, 02:26:49 PM »
Hi,

I've got a fairly large scene with RC for pavement, kerb and the street/parking. The scene works fine up until I try to render. The light cache just won't build and the only thing I can think of is that the scene has become too big. I tried using an Xref to counter this but that doesn't seem to work. I've never had these problems with forest pack so I'm wondering if something might be wrong with the Railclone objects, causing this. I'm sure it's in the RC part of the scene because it renders just fine when I delete it or turn the Xref off.

Has anyone experienced the same issue and/or has any clue how to fix it? I can send the file but it's north or 200 MB so I'd have to We-transfer if someone would like to take a look.

I'm using 3ds Max 2018 with Vray Next update 1.1

Hi,

Sorry to hear, you're facing these troubles. Would you mind to send us your scene to check it here? Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Hi Michal,

Of course I wouldn't! I'll send it shortly.

Would you like me to keep the file as is or remove all of the objects that work fine out of it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Well, a simplified scene containing just the problematic object(s) would be ideal, but please feel free to send it as it is ;)

Hi Michal,

I've replaced the main building with a box, since I'm not allowed to share that model. Besides that I purposely kept everything the same, since the scene will only get heavier when I add Forest Pack for the park.

What I've noticed;
-Camera 6&8 render just fine
-Camera 3 won't render and just keeps building the light cache.

Difference is that camera 3 'sees' the RC objects and the other two don't.
Removing the RC objects will have any camera render fine. Loading the RC objects into the scene via Xref doesn't solve the problem.
I've set an override material so the materials shouldn't be an issue either.

Other issue is that I can't get the "Parkeervlak_langs" RC object to work on the "Shape_parkeren_langs". Maybe this has something to do with it? The shape is a lot smaller than some of the objects that do work and cutting it up won't help either.

This is the download link for the scene: https://vanwijnen.wetransfer.com/downloads/65c83d7f62069e81377a47c368184bde20190319142240/c75ad03d0f8619fa000f4be64ff7537220190319142240/746c4d

Hi,

Thanks for providing the scene. It seems to be a similar problem like the one in the "VRAY Next Update 1 + Roof Tiles = Bug?" thread and we'll see what can be done to fix it (it has to be investigated more in deep by our main developers). Meanwhile, using the Style > Operate On > Polygons mode seems to fix it (instead of the Triangles). Also, the "Shape_parkeren_langs" spline works fine in my tests.

Best regards,

Hi Michal,

Thank you so much for the quick reply and your help. Really appreciate the iToo customer support!

Did you test the "shape_parkeren_langs" spline with the "parkeervlak_langs" RC object? If so, do you have any idea why it keeps freezing 3ds Max for me? Would you be willing to send me the file in which you have it applied if you don't know the solution?

Hi,

You're welcome. Sure, please check the attached scene with the "Parkeerplekken_langs" (previously assigned to the "Parkeervlak_langs") on the "Shape_parkeren_langs" base spline.
