Linear RC Object - extend Limits possible?
« on: March 03, 2016, 12:36:34 PM »
Hi,

i got a RC object using a Linear Generator with only one default object ( no start / end segment ). I'd like to Export a Parameter to adjust the Start / End of this RC object.

First i tried the default segment -> translation x value -> but this only moves the whole RC object to one side.

I thought to export the Generators Properties -> Limits -> Start/End Padding. This Parameter accepts positiv values only and makes it "shorter".

But i'd like to "extend" the Railclone object beyond the Start of the Path, the End should stay where it is - is this possible ? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance :-)
Robert

Hi Robert,

It depends on how far you need to extend the array. If it's less than the length of a single segment you should be able to do this using the left or right padding values. You can do this either by Using a Conditional operator so that you're only editing the padding of the first segment, as shown in this graph:

Alternatively you could add the segments to the start/end input:

In either case the padding can't exceed the size of the segment, so another solution is to use a larger segment for the first/last  position if possible.

I've attached these in a sample file. I hope that helps.

Many thanks!

Hi Paul,

you are genius !

thank you very much - the first solution is pefect for me! It needs to be extended max 75% of the segment - THANK YOU!
