Title: Make planking follow curvature

I have the profile of the side of a ship as a surface, I'm trying to add planking and make it conform to the shape of the curves of the ship itself, but they stay dead straight. Is there any way to conform the shape similar to how an FFD might work to tweak the flow of the timbers?

You can conform segments on a surface from the RC icon facing direction when using surface node:

Hope this helps.

Hi Rokas, thanks for replying!

I think I should have been a bit more specific. I've worked out how to make the planking 'wrap' onto the ship in the direction it is being projected, but the issue is in the other plane I can't work out how to tweak the timbers to not be perfectly at a horizontal angle.

Similar to the shot I took of what you did below. Rather than them being directly at 90 degrees, they need to follow the curvature of the ship in the other axis.

I cant find a nice solution for that. Maybe FFD will work for You if mesh is not too heavy.

Hi Rokas,

I tried FFD but it doesn't keep the planks 'stuck' to the surface, it just moves the whole mesh downwards. Is there a way to apply the FFD before the timbers are projected? I suppose I could manually tweek it, or try the slide knit method I saw elsewhere.

Unfotunately there is no native FFD in RailClone.
Hopefully  Slideknot (https://forum.itoosoft.com/railclone-pro-(*)/interesting-structure-help-needed-)/msg13397/#msg13397) workflow will work for You.
Good luck.
