Material black in viewport
« on: November 08, 2017, 10:10:10 AM »
Can't seem to find the answer to this with a search.

In Max 2017 I'm doing some concrete fixed cladding but the material is showing up black in the viewport. If I apply a generic vray material it's ok but the in-built material won't show up, though just tried now and switching the viewport to high quality then back to standard does show up a colour. What it doesn't do is change the colour if I change the material in the parameters.

Any ideas?

Hi,

We've done some additional testing, but we can't reproduce any similar problem here. Please specify your actual software configuration (3ds Max / FP / renderer versions. If you'll be able to reproduce it on a minimal scene, which you can send us , it would be great. Any additional info is welcome.

Best regards,

Hi, thanks for coming back to me on this one.

Just had a look on the Chaosgroup forums and other people are experiencing the same thing with Max 17 and 18. Frustrating as I can't see the colour I've selected in the parameters rollout. Hopefully it'll get resolved.

Do you have the maps pathed correctly? We had a similar issue with one of the fence libraries until we relinked the texture maps with correct paths in the material.
