Material by spline ID/RC Marker
(1/1)
RealViz:
Hi, I have an idea for improvement. Now it is possible to assign material to segmets only via Material Node. Unfortunately it does not allow for example to change the ID on the base "X Spline ID". You need to create a Selector based on the X Spline ID and then put the Material Node and Segment Node itself into it. For larger RC objects, this is quite annoying and makes things more cluttered. Could the Mat ID also be selected via the X Spline ID?
Thanks
Or did I miss something?

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback. As you’ve correctly pointed out, using the combination of the Selector Operator and the Material Operator - where the range can be returned by an Arithmetic Operator using return XSplineMatID; - is the recommended setup. To make managing this setup easier, I’ve created a macro (splineMaterialID.rcm) for you, which is attached to this email.
We’ll review possibilities for enhancing this functionality in future versions.
Best regards,

Thank you. I used to make macros too. I just thought it might be a useful feature in the base. At the same time, it occurred to me that it might be good not just to overwrite the ID for the whole object itself, but to sort of transfer individual IDs. E.g. if an object has ten IDs, then it would be possible to change ID 3 to ID 7. This would make it nice to do variations e.g. for window colors etc. But I don't know if this is technically possible. Currently we do this by creating multiple RCs with one being the master and each assigned a different multimaterial.
Thanks!
