Missing RC .............. in context menu
« on: October 19, 2024, 03:42:56 PM »
Hi
this has just started appearing in the right click context menu, even in an empty scene, no idea if it is Railclone (also affects ForestPro), system or 3DMax based, but gotta start somewhere
Resetting the Quads works for that session but the 'missing' stuff appears next time Max opened, also other software installed via scripts in 3DMax 'disappear' next time Max opened ?
Any ideas
thanks
Spike

Update
Looks like it could be Windows 11 update 24H2, it's affecting other maxscript software on my computer.

Hi Spike,

I'm sorry to hear you're facing these troubles. Please, try "resetting" the 3ds max by "renaming" your User files. To temporarily remove the user profile:
  • Ensure that 3ds Max is not running.
  • Navigate to the following path: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\your3dsMaxversion - 64bit\ENU
  • Rename the ENU folder to ENU_Old.
When 3ds Max is launched a new ENU folder will be created. If the issue has not been resolved, you can revert to the previous settings by deleting the new ENU folder and renaming the old one back to what it was.

Thanks in advance for any further comments on this issue you can share about it with us / our user community (in case some user(s) will run into similar troubles).

Best regards,

Still happening, I keep having to reset the quads menu.
Reset the ENU, complete clean install of Max, FPro Railclone etc, still happening.

In such a case, please try manually executing the railclone_utils.ms located under C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\RailClonePro202x\Contents\scripts\startup by using Scripting > Run Script... to see if that helps.

As mentioned earlier, we appreciate any additional details you can share with us or the user community regarding this issue, especially in case others encounter similar problems.

Best regards,

Any news on this?
I also have this problem. New computer with win 11. Fresh install of 3ds max 2024, latest railclone and forestpack. Forest pack works but railclone gives these right click menu errors. If I reset the ENU folder it works the first time I start 3DS max but after closing and opening again these errors start to appear and grows everytime i restart 3ds max?

This might be a Windows 11 24H2 issue as described in stack on facebook. Changsoo posted these solutions: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/15bvYpmbVq/

For the folks who is having issue with maxroscript in win 11. If you dont want to rollback the Windows update. Here is a few things you can try. If anythign worked please comment here.
1. Set a system env var
ADSK_3DSMAX_MACROS_ADDON_DIR
to
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2025 - 64bit\ENU\usermacros
match the max version. If you already had one, use semicolon(😉 to add more.
2. duplicate C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2025 - 64bit\ENU\usermacros folder somewhere in other folder like this.
D:\test\usermacros
and set the folder for ADSK_3DSMAX_MACROS_ADDON_DIR
