distance textures offset both in V-ray and Corona
« on: May 07, 2020, 09:33:40 AM »
Hello!

I'm building a brick wall and I want to use distance textures to control the materials of the bricks. I'm using RailClone Color with a CoronaDistance map. And the result on the RailCloned geometry is offset compared to the plane it's sitting on. I've attached an example which illustrates this clearly. Thinking it might be renderer specific I also tried in V-ray, and it's the same thing there, which leads me to suspect it's more to do with something in RailClone.

If both the RC object and my renderable spline (the blue circle in the attachment) has their pivot on 0,0,0 the result is no longer offset. So I have a way to sort of get around this for now I think. But once I start doing this on actual buildings in all kinds of places and angles, it might not be so practical. Just wanted to report. If you think this is more a fault of the renderer, I'll let them know instead :)

Cheers!

That is the requirement for it to work.

Obviously  ;)

I have since tried it both in FP and RC, and it seems the object that drives the distance texture doesn't need to be at origin. It's just the FP och RC objects that need that, which makes it a less bothersome. Just posting in case any one else ever gets this problem.
