Railclone. Random Materials Id's not working
« on: July 16, 2013, 09:14:59 PM »
I am trying to create a random audience with rail clone.  To do this I am using the random material ideas for the plane with the people.  It looks like it is working in the view port but when I go to render, it uses the same material id for all the people.  I also tried doing this with randow segments, but then all the material ids go messed up.  Can you please let me know if I am doing something wrong or does this just not work.

Are you using Mental Ray ? If so, please turn off Display->VRay/Mental Ray shader. The Material operator is not compatible with the instancing support in Mental Ray.

About the random segments, it should work. Remember you must use an unique material (in this case a multi-sub), that must be assigned to the RC object. If you cannot get it to work, please send us a test scene.

Thanks, turning that off did help, thanks.

So for each RailClone object you can only have one material assigned?

Yes, RailClone doesn't handle materials by itself. It uses the material assigned to the object.
