Title: No Texture Maps / Car Distripution FP & RC
Post by: NP2889 on July 31, 2015, 06:45:08 PM
Dear itoo team,

I have a little problem: as seen in the attachment there are no texture maps rendered when using railclone.
Do you have an idea what I did wrong there? also it is no possible to link and vray proxy as a segment. Is that true?

I want to place cars in an easy way into a largescale city.

Best regards!

Hi, did you apply a material to the RC object ?
RailClone doesn't create or assign materials, this must be done manually. You can find more information in this post (http://forum.itoosoft.com/index.php?topic=3033.msg11659#msg11659).

And yes, proxies can be used as segments, although normally there is not benefit using them. Also take in account that materials must be prepared, in the same way that using meshes.

Thank you for your responds and the further information.

The Idea behind the proxies is, that when using it as a present in an other scene,
I donĀ“t want to have the geometrie loaded inside that scene. I also do that in ForestPack.
Unfortunatly mostly afterwards, but it is a huge timesaver..

The original file is smaller, quicker to autosave and quicker to send into the local renderfarm.
Especially for trees, cars, people in archictureal renderings, there is most of the time no need to keep the geometrie in the scene.
Thats why I try to use proxies.

I see. As alternative to proxies, you also would use XRefs. It lets you to keep the geometry in separated scenes, and supports all Forest features (as Tint by Element).

that needed some time to click..

are you thinking about linking a xref with a forest scatter and tint by element for the car color and than
distribute it with railclone along a spline? *thinking....
