Noob help with curved, cladded ceiling
« on: May 13, 2022, 07:17:56 AM »
Hey all,

I'm new to Rail Clone and I'm wanting to build a curved, cladded wall... the cladding is 2500mm x 1250mm x 15mm boards and are 50% offset in row (brick bond) and its to go on a big convex ceiling for an auditorium...

I've tried lots of different ways but just cannot figure it out, could someone help out or point me in the right direction?

Much appreciated.

Thanks for the question. Do you have an image or maybe a scene file to show the shape your cladding needs to follow?

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the reply, i've attached a max file with the shape of the roof and a single section of the cladding. 👍

Here's the cladding IRL

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Please take a look at the attached file for a possible solution. Since the cross-section of the ceiling is consistent you can use a 2D generator with a curve in the X Spline.

I hope that helps,
Paul
