Objects go above and below applied spline
« on: March 26, 2019, 12:59:09 AM »
Hi,
I applied this simple geometry to a spline and have the illustrated problem of it not sicking to the spline...
All settings are at the default except the ones below (in pic).
The spline was made by snapping to each tread of a stair...

Max 2019 and latest railclone

Any ideas

Thanks

Hi
Please try increasing Curve Steps parameter:

If that wont help please attach Your scene and we will try to help further.

Hi,

Thanks for the provided scene. Enabling Deform > Bend & Slice options and set it to the Vertical mode should do the trick. Also, please have a look at this post (installing Autodesk's Security Tools would be highly recommendable). Hope that helps.

Best regards,

Wait it worked but the objects are broken up...
See pic. What to do?

Feel free to play with Vertical Top and Vertical Bottom settings:
Also please note that Point-Cache display mode can't display some deformations correctly. Test in mesh mode or render.

You can check this documentation page for in depth explanation.

Interesting thanks, as suggested, just turning mesh mode on, with "verticals" checked shows it adheres to the spline .

The thing is I am trying to get it stepped (not distorted, where the horizontals stay that way).
I'll try looking at the link.... hope there is a solution.
thanks

Hi Rokas, Is this a limitation to rail clones abilities?
In the link you sent me it looks like the only way to have an equal distance between the object and the spline is to distort it.

The stepped relationship seems to change because it looks like it relates to the corner of the objects. Is there way to make it relate to say the pivot point which in the center of the bottom of the object?

thanks!

Can You create an example in max what You need and attach it here? Or at least draw a sketch how You want it to be?

I did this (see pic) with Forest pro, but want to use Railclone because there are more elements of the stair to add.

You see all the splines have the same distance to the objects.
In the last pic I sent they vary (included here again)

The Segment and Transform node's both have the ability to define the alignment of the pivot point used by RailClone. Setting it to Center or Pivot should fix your issue.

I hope that helps,

Paul
