Railclone not finding maps
« on: July 02, 2019, 12:46:25 PM »
Hi all,

Having an issue on a project (which has never happened before) where railclone styles aren't picking up their maps.

I am aware railclone maps reside on the users local machine under their user name/path, but am reluctant to map to this as it means that colleagues PC's won't be able to find them (as my username/path doesn't exist on their local PC).

I assumed that railclone automatically found these maps (certainly isn't an issue our team has had a problem with until now)???

Kind regards,
Chris

Hi. If You install all the RailClone packages with Update Manager to Your PC You will see RailClone maps without any problems.

Those will be installed under Your personal path, but since path will be added to external user paths list, Max will find these maps.

Alternatively You can configure all PCs to link to the same network location using this registry edit guide.

Thanks,

Sorted! Not sure why it didn't do this when I first installed it.

I'm still having problems with this. I've re-mapped these paths dozens of times now and Max keeps forgetting them sporadically. There doesn't appear to be any reason as to why.

What's also just as (if not more) odd is that it is adding in paths that map to my colleagues PC's!

Hi. Sorry to hear You are having trouble.

Do You have path:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Itoo Software\RailClone Pro\maps
added in "Customize user paths" "External Paths" list?

I did have last week, because I added it myself.

This week, it's gone and been *replaced* with paths from my colleagues PC's.

The paths highlighted in the image do not exist on my PC, and i've no idea why it keeps adding them? I specifically deleted them last week!

Please create new RC object in the scene. You will be asked to create RailClone Texture paths entry. Agree.
If You do not get this message then merge attached registry file. And try again. If there will be correct path in that list- You will see all needed maps.

Regarding colleagues paths, that is new for me. As this seems to be reoccurring,  please try to pinpoint event that causes Your paths to disappear and colleagues path to appear. Is it PC restart/ Max crash/ Network Rendering etc...

Thanks in advance for any further comments on this issue you can share with us / our user community (in case some user(s) will run into similar troubles).

Hi,
we have 4 workstations and we use RC and FP.
We want the libarys to be on a Networkdrive.
Somehow I can't manage to set it up.
It allways looks for C:/user/Appdata/local[...]
Is this still the way to go?:

Alternatively You can configure all PCs to link to the same network location using this registry edit guide.

The reason we need this, is that we manage our projects with svn and your plugins are writing user pathes in the mxp file. Its creating merge conflicts.
It would be best to have just one path in there pointing to the network drive.
