railclone master object
« on: September 26, 2022, 10:52:59 AM »
Hello!
I was creating 2 very simple RC Array objects for facade design. Now I would like to create 20 identical RC facades facing different orientations. When I manipulate the "Box H001" object (red circle) all changes appear in all facades, which is perfect.  :D But when I want to add a new Start or End element, then I have to go through all 20 RC facades to update these changes.  :-\
Is there a possiblity to create someting like a "master RC" and all other RC facades are instances respective to their own special clipping areas?

Thank you for your help,
Harald

Hi!

Thanks for the question. You have a copy of options here. One is to to use the Copy To buttons in the style rollout. There's a video for this here:

Another option is to use the style linking feature which allows you to use one RailClone style as the master from which other RailClone objects read the graph. Any changes made to the master, automatically cascade down to its children. This doesn't mean you can't make local changes. If you edit a parameter on one of the Child objects, then the local value overrides the master value, making it an incredibly powerful way to populate and control large scenes.

There's a bit more about it in the online documentation

I hope that helps,

Paul
