Title: parametric french windows and doors...
Post by: lukx on August 24, 2017, 08:21:56 AM
I'm looking for some simple setup for creating french window and door curtain wall. I want to create very detailed model of the frames and then simplify my life with RC to create curtain wall with it.
Here are images what I want to create. I took a look ate RC parametric windows tutorial but I think for what I need it's a bit of overkill. Anything simpler with what I could achieve what I want?

Hi,

In this case if it's not necessary for the height to be adjustable then I would do it with simple L1S generators: One for the curtain wall and one for the doors. These can be placed by changing the material IDs on the spline. You would probably need just 4 slices per ID as shown below: Start, End, Default and Evenly.

If you wanted  a more complete solution then something like the technique shown in the windows tutorial would help out. In RailClone 3 there's actually a macro that uses the same technique so you wouldn't need to create the complete graph - just slice your model and connect the segments. It's called A2S with intersections and it can be found in the Generators sub-group.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Many Thanks,

Paul

Big thanks Paul. It's now more clear for me. I'll take a look at the macro and see how it will pan out. Thanks again!

One more question Paul, how to get the glass into all this correctly ?
