Title: Parametric Wall ; How to do this?
Post by: BH1231 on January 19, 2016, 12:56:53 AM
I'm a new user of railclone ---   is it possible to create a parametric brick wall using railclone 2?  not sure how to get a brick wall (2d array) to follow a 3d surface; versus just a spline (which I can do; and understand how to make it follow a terrain surface in plan; the question is how can you align the brick wall to follow to a surface in elevation???

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us. When using surfaces, RailClone always projects its geometry on the local Z axis, so to use it to create a wall you would need to rotate the RailClone object 90 degrees on the X axis or create it in a front or side  viewport.  I've attached a sample file to illustrate with two RailClone objects, one in the usual position on the XY plane, and another that has been rotated to create a wall. I hope they help.

You might also find this chapter on Surfaces (http://docs.itoosoft.com/display/RAILCLONE/5+-+How+to+use+Surfaces) from our Next Steps with RailClone (http://docs.itoosoft.com/display/RAILCLONE/Next+Steps+with+RailClone) guide useful as it goes over using surfaces in more detail.

Many thanks!
