Classic molding frame How To
« on: September 04, 2016, 04:33:33 PM »
Hello. I'm trying to make a railclone object that creates  decorative wall frame. I've attached images where the problem is shown. Also there is a file.  I used Linear 1s generator - corner elements are getting messed up. Any suggestions how to get the desired result?

Regards.

Hi,

As the corner Segment isn't symmetrical and needs to be mirrored, I would suggest you to pick the "corresponding one" by the Selector Operator in the Spline Mat ID mode. In attached possible solution vertical lines have the ID 1 assigned and horizontal lines ID 2.

Segments in attached style are using the Pivot Alignment and the precise placement is handled by using an empty Segment with Left & Right Padding values corresponding to corner Segment measurements.

Hope you'll find it useful.

Best regards,

Hi,

No worries at all, it's the 3ds max's Measure utility (Utilities - Measure - New Floater).
