how can I set up a railclone array with vray lights?
« on: August 08, 2018, 10:13:23 AM »
I am creating a bridge that is lined with lights.  For now, I am attempting to use max's spacing tool to place the lights along a path, but I lose the procedural greatness once I do this.  It seems like I should just be able to pick a light from the editor, but no luck.  I tried grouping the light with the element, but no luck there either.  Please let me know if I am missing something?

Thank you!

Unfortunately both ForestPack and RailClone only works with geometrical objects, there is no support for lights.

Is it something we can have in the future? It will majorly be useful if we can use RC for groups of complete geometric light fittings, that also contain actual vray lights

agreed...somehow you don't get the same control and desirable effect with vraylight mtl. It would be a great addition in the future...I have full confidence that the geniusl developers over there will figure it out  ;) ;D

Yes I agree. I have city scene and I was going to propose to select the tops of the building, create a spline and make a RC that places lights at each vertice and then randomize the lighting color or something

Hi,

Have you tried the new Forest Pack 7 beta. Forest pack has a mode that will put objects on spline vertices and now supports light scattering so it might well work for you in this situation.

All the best
