clipping area overlap issue
« on: May 19, 2014, 07:04:38 PM »
Hi guys,

I`m having an issue with using clipping areas with multiple closed splines within one spline object. RC seems to create a new "virtual" rectangular shaped default element per closed spline "isle" so if two closed spline elements are too close together, those two isles start overlapping creating errors like z fighting.

I tried to illustrate the effect below. Thanks in advance for any help on the topic and also thanks for all the great improvements with the new beta! proper curve conditional usage rocks now :)

cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the kind words about the new beta, we're glad you're enjoying using it. :D

I can confirm that option B overlaps segments but option A should work for you. You can select and move the entire RailClone object so that the array extents would overlap the clipping spline. It will look as though it isn't updating but if you then reassign the spline from the base objects rollout the segments will be clipped in their new position.

Hope that helps.

Kind regards,

Paul

just realized that my reply didn't get through the first time:

I didn't think of deactivating the spline and moving the entire RC object to define the center. That worked out great. thanks again for your help!

cheers,
Chris
