Normally you guys get complaints or requests for solutions and workarounds in this forum.
To breake the normal, I just want to say - You guys are awsome!!!!
The "Use Segment Material" in RailClone will revolutionize the way we use the RC plugin.
Before everything needed to be "hardcoded" into the setup, and I suppose that the plugin originally was meant to make a well defined item - a cupboard, a door, a house, - and most had to be preset in some way - you had only flexibility in the dimensions.
With the new "Use Segment Material" feature we've got much more flexibility, - I see many possibilities in making layouts, - I mean interior setups, where you can make kind of a template with parametric rules - having the segments defined as placeholders for objects you can add into the template. This is SUPER COOL!!
In reality I just miss one thing, (and I have mentioned this in another post too ) - the ability to mark the segment object as a placeholder, - and when marked, show up in the command panel - as paths and clipping areas.
Just a primitive example, a dinning table with chairs - maybe even with assets on the table.
All the assets are placeholder segments. This way you have a very flexible setup, a framework where you can make pretty advanced parametric rules fx. random transitions for realistic variance - the possibilities are endless .
I have already made some pretty advanced setup in RC, an officedesk setup - and a restaurant table setp - the problem till now was that, due to the fact that all materials should be reassigned in a multisub material, the task of swapping the furniture to another kind was quite cumbersome. This obstacle is gone now - and I am super happy!!!
Thanks a lot!!!
