Title: Railclone Lights and LightSelect renderpass with Corona
Post by: Jean-Brad on December 31, 2021, 12:10:14 PM
Hi,
I have a question about the use of light within railclone5,
If I am not mistaken Railclone create light instances in the current active layer during the rendering, those instances are then deleted when the render stop which make those lights impossible to be added to a LightSelect  render element pass (at least with corona),
On the contrary with when using ForestPro object,  adding the light source object in a LightSelect pass allow to store all the light instances in the render element, which is pretty handy.  So Maybe I have missed something in the setup of my railclone object but is there a way to get the same result ?
Thanks for your attention

Hi,

Thanks for your message. At present Corona Lightmix doesn't support lights distributed with RailClone. In order for this to happen, the Corona team will need to add support using our RC API as they did for Forest Pack. Until then, as you have spotted, we get around the limitation by cloning the lights before render time and deleting them once it has finished. Hopefully, full support can be added by the Corona team soon.

If LightMix is essential, a workaround might be to instantiate the lights into the scene using RailClone tools.

Many thanks,
Paul
