Railclone mapping - VRAy only?
« on: August 25, 2015, 08:00:16 PM »
http://docs.itoosoft.com/display/RAILCLONE/Segments#Segments-mappingMapping

As per this guideline - it says:

Quote
This feature is available only in V-Ray, when Display->Use Instancing Engine is enabled. See Best Rendering Practices for more information about the rendering modes.
Can someone clarify - it only work in vray when instancing is enabled, or it only works in vray at all? - ie it wont work with mental ray?

I want to do the thing in that tutorial - have some mapping  that follows along the spline but doesn't stop with each segment.

As an addendum - even with this mapping switched off, I can't seem ti apply my own mapping UV modifier to the railcone object.

edit 1:
I still get tiling based on the segment object's mapping - but at render time, not in the viewport.

edit 2:

Need to turn off instancing engine.

Jesus Christ - anyone fancy giving me a Vray licence?

Hi,

Automatic Box mapping is supported by all renderers but as you mention, only by turning off the Instancing engine. You can see a table that outlines the supported features for each renderer here. Items marked in yellow can be used with any renderer with the instancing engine switched off.

I hope that helps.

Many thanks,

Paul
