Railclone Area with borders
« on: October 09, 2019, 12:46:15 PM »
Hi Itoo!

I'm thinking about a RC object for terrace, really simple with the spline area and cladding macro, but if i want a border IN the area and that border push the spline area like an outline...
And of course this "outline" will be linked to the my borders' width...

Did it possible?
thx!

Your custom border should be outside of the clipping spline.
There is no alternative way (at least as i know) how to avoid this currently.

Similar thread for reference.

Hi
https://www.itoosoft.com/blog/splineoffset-a-new-free-plugin-from-itoo-software
can help.
One offset spline with different MatID. Offset dimension should correspond to your border width.

oh yes... it seems it's a similar problem.
I've think about an exterior border, but it don't make sense with a parametric/ auto build...
Because we lost all profits to use only one spline... Which could also be used by forest...

I hope itoo could make a macro like outline ...
in the very end of all we need also an area to cut more than the spline do...

Thanks for the answer!

As a workaround You can use SplineOffset Modifier to offset Your original spline and assign new material ID to it, which will be used as limiter in Clipping generator style.

I'm looking it seriously!

It's a really good modifier for sure.

But in my case, where there is a hole for swimming pool... it's a problem
But thanks a lot for this precious example

Hi Raistlin,

It actually works exactly as Dragan & Rokas said. I just happened to be working on a similair script (meaning with a border) so I figured I'd try it out and I've attached the result.

Select the spline, outline it the exact value of the border (100 in my case) and delete the original line (or detach it, whatever fits your need best). If the border still crosses the rest on the inside, you just have to reverse the inside spline and there you go!
