Hey guys,
I've got a scene here where my railclones object are moving out in space only at render-time.
I can see them jump in the viewport as I hit render, and once I cancel the render, they come back into place once I select them.
To avoid having this issue I have to collapse to mesh.
I have this happen with RT GPU, haven't tried cpu yet.
Is this something Vray related or itoo?
Cheers
Stan

Hi Stan,
We haven't had reports of that happening before. Are you able to provide a simplified scene so that we can reproduce it here and investigate? You can send it to support@itoosoft.com if you'd prefer not to post work publicly.
Many thanks,
Paul

Hi Stan,
We have been able to isolate this problem, it only occurs when a modifier is applied to a RailClone object. When this happens RailClone should automatically return a full mesh, but for renderers that use our API it is still returning instances, and causing the problem. This will be fixed in RailClone 2.5. Fortunately in the meantime there's a simple workaround. For RailClone objects with modifiers applied, go to the Display rollout and disable Use Instancing Engine.

You may find by doing this that you actually won't need to apply any modifiers, as it will enable the RailClone features that are not normally supported by V-Ray RT when instancing is left on (such as the material operators). You can see a full list of features that can be enabled in this way on this compatibility chart (http://docs.itoosoft.com/display/RAILCLONE/Rendering+Best+Practices).
I hope that helps.
Many thanks,
Paul

Hi there,
Thanks for your feedback.
Unfortunately I don't have the same option as you do :

I'm using the latest version though : 2.3.4
Is that the same option renamed differently?
Should I use another version? Maybe the beta one?
Thanks

Hi Stan,
Yes, sorry we've renamed that option in the current beta. In the version you're using you should disable Use Geometry Shader.
Many thanks,
Paul
