Sine Wave Pendant
« on: April 17, 2024, 10:50:12 PM »
I'm trying to create this light and I have got it 99% the way there with the sine wave macro input into the Z Fixed scale. https://yellowgoatdesign.com/products/cambium

However, what is stumping me is getting the top of the inside ring to flow smoothly. Any tips? I've attached the Max 2023 file for reference.

Hi,

Unfortunately, the RailClone plug-in cannot "unevenly scale" the used segment. However, you can use shorter segments and apply, for example, the Vertex Weld modifier to join them. Another possibility would be to directly adjust the base spline to achieve the desired shape (for example, with the help of the Wave modifier) and use that one for the other part with the RailClone plug-in and the inner part with the usual spline modeling techniques. Please find attached both approaches applied to your provided scene. I hope that helps.

Best regards,

Thanks for the helpful tips! I was also able to get the desired look but using an FFD modifier.
