Title: railclone tool octane render problem
Post by: IC8644 on January 09, 2014, 10:27:31 AM
Hi,

I have problem with instancing by railclone tool. I have long chainlink, but raiclone object is instanced to the one mesh.
For better explain look the attachment please.
Maybe I´m doing something wrong.

Thanks a lot.

Jan

Not all segments can instanced, only those what are identical to the original geometry (not deformed, sliced, etc.). So the instancing result depends a lot of how the RailClone object is designed.

If you send us your scene, we can check what is the problem exactly.

thank you for your quick reply.
Probably this is the problem, because now I noticed that the problem is not on straight area. So what is best way to create the most instanced long chainlink or curbs on the big  rough terrain?

Thanks

I'm afraid there is no way to instance segments on a sloped surface, at least using "Vertical" mode, because all pieces must be deformed vertically.

You would use the "Adaptative" mode (see Segment->Deform (http://www.itoosoft.com/railclone/reference/refsegments.php#deform)), but obviously the result will be different.
In the attached image you can compare the instances generated by a chainlink fence, using both modes (instances are shown in blue).

ok, I understand. logically :D

I tried it, it works. If the slope isn´t too big, it´s almost the same as vertical mode.

Thank for fast solution.
All the best
