Railing Corner Detail
« on: June 02, 2016, 10:56:23 PM »
Hey everyone

I´m trying to create a simple railing, but can´t figure out how to make the corner area look right.
The railing is made up with some metal bars with a distance of 10cm between each other. On the corners, I want the distance (from the corner) to be 5cm. If I insert a corner segment the second distance will also be shorter.
I´ve attached an image to illustrate what I mean.

Pretty sure I'm overlooking an easy solution, but I  can´t figure it out.

Thanks

Paul Roberts

Hi.

For this usage I'm afraid you won't be able to use the Evenly input. This always calculates spacing from the corner vertices irrespective of the size of the geometry used for corners. Instead wire the metal bar to the Default input and give it a Left and Right Padding of 5cm. To get nice evenly spaced segment, change Rules > Default > Mode to Adaptive.

I've attached a sample file for you to check out. I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Many Thanks,

Paul
