Cladding preset - is it broken?
« on: February 09, 2018, 02:33:16 PM »
Hello,

I'm having a terrible time trying to apply a cladding preset to a simple closed spline.
The spline is fine, as you can see, it extrudes fine and is closed.
The RC object though, has obvious problems.  Do I need to modify the preset to get it to work?
If I apply the same style to a rectangle, it is better, but some oddness still happens to some segments near the border.

Thanks.
edit: I'm using the latest RC version, downloaded and  installed today.

Hi!

Sorry that you're facing these issues. Would you mind uploading the spline so that I can take a closer look and check it out.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi,
Apologies for this issue. There seems to be a small bug with X -> XY mode that causes this issue when the spline area is flat on the XY plane. This mode is used to automatically find the plane created by  the spline and align the array accordingly. If, as in this case, the area is flat on the ground you can fix this issue by changing Clipping Area > Auto Align to None. You'll then also need to change the Generator's X Rotation to 0 and clipping should work correctly.

I've sent this to our development team to look at the issue.

Many thanks, please let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks Paul,
It's working okay now after making the suggested modifications.
