how can continue the surface....?
« on: January 24, 2020, 07:03:14 PM »
I have a problem with railclone, I don´t know how can i solve this problem:
I have for example 2 pieces and i want to make a surface with this pieces along a spline, but when i put the pieces along the spline, the surfaces don´t continue, there are any solution?

thanks

Tengo una duda con railclone, a la hora de hacer una superficie con varias piezas, estas no me continuan cuando se unen, hay alguna forma de que los vertices queden aproximados y no vayan abriendose con la distancia?

gracias

The scene file will be helpful. Please downgrade it to Max2017.  ::)

Hi Dragan!.

I atach the file in 17 max version.

My problem is that i have to make a long road with different objects so i prepare the different objects and i apply with different ids over the spline, so if i want a piece of sidewalk i put id 1, if i want a piece of terrain i put id 2......   all the objects have the similar polys and vertex to ease the union, but the problem as you can see in the sample is that railclone doesn´t respect the unions between different ids.

For this purpose, you can simply use Selector with X SplineMaterialID as an index filter. (Don't forget to switch off Limits by Material ID)

Hi!,
firstable thanks for your answers.
I have the next problem, now the surface follow the surface but doesn´t respect the ids, as you can see in the picture, yellow color represents the id-1 and as you can see there are zones where the model of id-2 stay in the id-1 zone. Can i have the control of the size of the pieces than occupy the size of the spline id.
I atach a picture and the file again.
Thanks so much

Yes, I can see what you're talking about and I've tried a couple of scenarios, and none of them seems to work.  :o
We have to wait for Itoo guys step in and take a look.

OK, that might not be the perfect solution, but hopefully this helps.

Multiple things should be adjusted.

1. Let's change vertices where material ID changes to Bezier.

2. Add empty Corner Segment
3. Set Default Mode to Adaptive And Corner Vertex type to Bezier. Bevel mode to None.
4. Adjust Curve Steps to 80

5. Optional. Might be needed, might be skipped.
To flatten a gap that forms on First Spline vertex We can set Vertical Deform on both geometry settings.
There will still be small gap. Hopefully this is acceptable. If not YOu can add Welder Modifier on top of RC object.

Hope this helps.

If you are ok with Deform>Vertical Segments then you can go with your initial idea with two separate generators (one for each MaterialID) and set Spline to Curve.
But  I assume you are going to use Spline as Line with Corners then Rokas` solution is better.

Wow!!!  Thank you so much Dragan and rokas for your help.
I´ve used the dragan´s mode, beceause it is easiest for me, I´ll use rokas mode in the future.

Thanks again!!
