Any way to keep materials when creating a vray scene
« on: November 07, 2019, 08:02:25 AM »
Hi,

I need to make the output of my Railclone object into a vRay scene file in order to use it in Maya.

I love the new "Use Segment Material" tickbox in RailClone 4, but it doesn't seem to have any affect when creating a vRay scene. The materials in Max were correct at render, but when rendering in Maya the imported vRay scene had a standard pink random color Max material. Any details on this or if it can be fixed in a future update?

Thank you
Oscar

Hi,

Materials are assigned to the segments at render time, therefore this feature doesn't work on exported scenes.

Try converting the RC objects to standalone items before exporting, using RailClone Tools.
It assigns the materials properly, and also optimizes the result, because generates instanced items where possible.
