Rollercoaster
« on: February 04, 2020, 08:22:08 PM »
Hello
I am having an issue creating a rollercoaster.
My setup is fairly simple, but at the encounter of the start and the end of the path my shape flips side.
How can I solve that?

Attached are 2 pictures showing the problem.
Thanks!

Hi, It is possible you are missing one LOOP in the path spline  :)

Can you share the scene and please downgrade it to Max2017

Hey
Actually the path is closed, for some reason there is a twist on it...

here is the file as 3dsmax 2017

I think it is due to Spline. If you switch Segment>Deform to Vertical RC will force vertical orientation and it will close the path but this is no the solution. At least you will be able to see where the extreme twist is.
Since 3DsMax is not my primary program I don't have enough knowledge to solve the issue.

Thank ypu the quick help.
I think vertical is not an option since I gonna need to have a loop there.
It seems to be a problem from max that twists the first vertix always, dont know why.
Its happening with LOFT as well... at the moment I am trying to use a sweep instead.. unfortunately, since I could not find a way to correct the twist in railcloner

Actually you can sort of fix the twist with RC but it will not be ideal and it will break each segment connection which is not acceptable.  :(
And it is not even full 180deg. It is more around 170deg.
Another thing is to put the Vertex Veld modifier on top of the Railclone. This can help a little too.

Thank you very much for the effort. It is not a bad option for sure, I think I can use that.
Its a pity that railclone doesnt have a more intuitive twist option like a graphic or something, so you could adjust that along the segments.

but I really appreciate your help and effort!
thanks again

Hm...
I tried one more trick to get smoother result. I split the Structure_Emitter into two objects. I notice you have some kind of twist on the Spline (Vertex #25).
Please check if that causing you a problem.
