Title: roof preset scale problem
Post by: Soluna on May 28, 2022, 03:32:19 PM
Hey  :)
I´m trying to create a roof with Railclone but the scaling is completely wrong. When I set the global scale in the Railclone object to 10% it already looks a lot better but then there are gaps between the separate rows of roof tiles as shown in the image. Is there any way to fix that? I´ve already tried checking the Macro but I guess I´m not experienced enough to fix that by myself. Or maybe there´s a simpler solution?
My 3ds Max System Units are set to Centimeters and so are the Display Units.
I already tried creating a completely new scene with 3ds Max, then I created just a rectangular spline and used the macro on that, too. But the scaling was completely wrong as well. The roof tiles are always way too big and I need to scale them down by like 90% in order to make them look correct.

Thanks already for your help!

Hi,

The trouble with global scale is that although it scales the geometry, it doesn't always scale hard coded numeric properties. You may need to open up the graph and adjust these manually. For example, I could get the scale to reduce to 10% by also reducing the thickness property found in the macro

I hope that helps,

Thanks a lot! That seems to work!  :)
