Massive Bifold Usage on a Facade - Solutions
« on: September 27, 2017, 01:31:03 PM »
Hi Guys,

I'm looking to use Railclone to generate a Parametric Bifold Windows/Doors that are going to be used extensively for a project on the facade.

I have tried setting up a system where I have 1 spline for one rail and a zigzag spline to setup the glazing panels  I can do different segments for different heights, but that is starting to seem more and more like a unnecessarily complicated procedure, especially considering this project will have a few hundred of these.

Has anyone here had to develop anything similar, and what solutions have been used to have fairly detailed Bifold doors across a facade?

Thank you for your feedback, hope to hear from all of you soon.
Kind regards,
D.

Hi,

You might find helpful the approach used in this tightly related post (with available sample scenes).

Thanks Michal, It's been really useful, I have a couple of questions regarding the solution, as I can't figure out a solution using the method advised in the forum post you gave.
I have a panel that is standard in the middle and one that is different in the last element, that should have a lock & handle device. How can I rule a different end segment for this?

I tried everything I could with the conditional node, but maybe I am using something wrong. Would be super nice to have a nicely designed System included in Railclone for Bifold Doors, as it is such a common solution nowadays :)

There's an example of the current Railclone nodegraph attached, cheers,
Thanks!

Hi,

Glad to hear, that it helped. Using the Conditional Operator > Segment X Counter > Equal to 1 might work as you can use "Make first" vertex and "Reverse" over the base spline to modify the order. The Position on Section > Greater than for example 80% should do the trick too. Hope that helps.

Hi Michal, thanks for getting back to me, I've just finished it, thanks for your precious input! :P
You've made our lives quite a bit easier as there was a lot of variation across the facade with these windows.
Thanks,
DR
