Hi Guys

I have a fence on an uneven terrain. The fence therefore "waves" on some areas. To make it less obvious, I adjust the surface Interp value from the default of 50mm, to 10000mm, however, only some bits of the fence conform to this while other bits go a bit wack.

So I'm liking the top and bottom horizontal bits like that, But I'd like the vertical bits to adjust to line up inside the top/bottom horizontal bits. I hope that makes sense!

As you can see with the default of 50mm, the fence takes the terrain slope a bit too literal, and undulates a bit much!

Errr not sure how that is suppose to help......

I'm using the default "Featherboard" style that ships with RC.

Its same height everywhere. It's not different heights like in the example you linked to.

The issue I have is that I cant get it to sit nicely on my uneven terrain

Would You attach Your maxfile?

I've cut out a section of the terrain and fence in the attached file

As you can see in this portion, the terrain suck a bit. Would be nice if RC could do some kind of relax in Z for example. I could then make the fence higher overall, and just move it down into the terrain a bit more. That way the average height above the terrain would be correct and you wont get this weird undulation we currently get from the sucky terrain.

The terrain is what it is, it should not be adjusted in any way

So I see You understand the the problem is in the surface. Turbo smooth makes it more dense and solves the issue. If You cant edit this terrain, You can create another helper that would be otherwise invisible.

Then I'd like to request a Z relax feature built directly into RC please for a future release

Having another hidden object with turbosmooth applied isnt really an option. The terrain is MUCH MUCH MUCH larger than what you see in this file. Even just having a few polys of the terrain where the fence is, and turbosmoothing that, will kill my scene due to the physicial size

I dont say to use turbosmoothed terrain underneath. It was just a quick confirmation of the issue.
I suggest You can draw new surface only under Your spline.

Or You can delete surface node and use Glue plugin (it has few interpolation options to play with)  to conform Your spline to Your current surface.

So what you're saying is my feature request is getting ignored?

I am not saying anything of that sorts. I am just offering my workaround solutions that work today.

Your suggestion is interesting and will be considered later down the development stages.
