Title: Smooth, round railing issue
Post by: User333 on October 21, 2019, 08:00:46 PM
Hello.

I wanted to achieve smooth and round on the corners railings, but it seems not to work in my scene. Could you take a look into that?
Also, I would like to have exact same distance on evenly, but it seems to not working that way on the corners.

Regards,
M.

Hi

I have tried to fix the style the best I could.
Regarding evenly, it has some rules how it works (https://forum.itoosoft.com/railclone-pro-(*)/how-to-get-evenly-segments-to-properly-space-from-corner-segments/msg23266/#msg23266).  You will get hang of it with practice.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much.

Which way is the best to make spline for that kind of railing? spline rectangle and fillet or spline with roundings made by bezier corner?

One more thing I would like to ask about is speed in viewport. Managing that railig is very slow in the viewport, what can I do about that? Is the geometry too complicated?

M.

You could use longer straight segments for straight parts and shorter (as now) only for turns. Set that accordingly to Spline material ID.
Your spline is not planar so I have enabled Vertical deformations, which also uses some resources.

And last but not least- heavy styles can be displayed in Point-Cache mode or Box mode for faster viewport performance.
