Hi there,

i just wanted to know if it is possible to "connect" multiple splines which have been generated by the "connect-operator" or "offset-operator".

In the screenshot you can see that i made two fence setups. The right one is what i want, but it is based on two single splines. I divided and then connected the two splines to generate the wires inbetween. Of course the goal is to have just one spline for distribution, maybe a second one to offset the top position of the posts.

The setup on the left generates the splines for the posts but now im unable to connect these generated splines... If its not clear, i want to generate the red lines that i have drawn over the screenshot =)

Best regards,
Denis

Hi Denis,

You could use the Connect Operator for Offset Operators with multiple parallels, but in my opinion, it’s easier to use the Generator directly to place the posts in the desired positions using the Corner input. Please find attached sample scenes demonstrating two different setups: one with connected Offset Operators, and another where the Spline Operator in Divide Evenly mode divides the base spline, which is then Offset multiple times. I hope this helps.

Best regard,

Denis

Hi Michal,

thank you for your input. I think i didn´t explain my self clearly. Sorry for that, i attached a file which should make it clearer.

I wanted to connect the vertices that are generated by the connect and divide operator for the "wire-ring" input. That way the wires would connect when you tilt the post.

Best regards,
Denis

Thanks for your swift reply. Unfortunately, in the current version, there’s no Spline Operator designed to handle this type of task. A possible workaround is to use the CrossSection modifier on the base spline twice to create the grid, and then use these lines in the RailClone object. If we find a better solution, we’ll let you know. Please find attached a version with this possible solution. I hope it helps a bit.

Best regards,

Denis

Hi Michal,

using CrossSection is a great idea as an workaround. I changed your setup a little bit with the Spline-Offset Modifier in combination with ID-Filters to get it right.
Thank you for the Idea.  :D

I attached the file, if you or someone else wanna take a look.

Would be nice if you could build in a cross-section function into the spline operators in the future. If you guys think it would come in handy.

Thank you and keep up the great work,
Denis

You're welcome. That’s a really nice idea — filtering the spline sections by Material IDs is a smart way to keep things simple.
