Stepped Vertical Flat Top Problem
« on: October 28, 2025, 12:43:03 pm »
Hi, I am following a quick tip tutorial (using Deform modes in Railclone) where a stairs is being created using a helix and stepped mode.

Problem I encounter is that as soon as I add a small value to the Flat Top paramater, it encompasses the whole segment instead of the top part.

I have made a video showcasing the error:

I am running 3Ds Max 2026.2 and Railclone 7.1.3

Hi,

This is likely to be because you need to use a larger Vertical Top value. The distance is measured from the spline upwards and anything above that value will be vertically deformed. If the value is very low - the whole model will therefore be deformed. I hope that makes sense. If you still encounter the same issue, please feel free to upload your exercise file and I'll take a closer look.

Cheers,
Paul
