Improvement Request to Clipping Area - or add 3D Clipping cubes
« on: January 23, 2019, 10:18:10 AM »
Hi Team

My no1 request for Railclone would be to improve the Clipping Area, or perhaps in addition to this, add a 3D clipping object

The improvements I have in mind is mainly for things like walls. It would be absolutely perfect if I can have a SINGLE spline on the ground, as the "Spline Object" foir my building's walls. The orientation can be any direction in X, Y and every angle in between, including curved walls. I would not need to worry about Segment ID's or any nonsense like that.

Then for the clipping area, instead of having a clipping area for each wall section for windows/doors and general openings, I can also have  a SINGLE clipping area for ALL the walls. This is where it may get complicated and where my suggestion comes in for a clipping cube instead of clipping area. This said spline, could then be extruded and used as the base clipping object. Almost like we traditionally had the wall made from a line, sweep and booleen the windows out, but now more fancy with Railclone.

This would SIGNIFICANTLY speed up our workflow I think

You can use rendertime booleans for now.

Feature You are requesting is not easy to implement.

If it was easy, I wouldn't be asking you, but that's why you guys earn the big "bucks"
