It s often a bit messy when you add different segments according to your spline mat ID. This would be helpful according to me.

And do you know if there is a plugin to display segments of a spline with a color for each material ID?

Thank You for suggestion. We will consider it.
Regarding spline visualisation, You can enable geometry in Viewport and set regular multimaterial:

Thanks for the answer Rokas.

I also think that this numbering feature would be tremendously useful. Right now if we have more than 10 items it gets really confusing (we use RailClone to spread proxied windows on buildings - every window type equals different spline ID). Our workaround for this problem is to visually group segments by five - then it's a bit easier to get around the slate editor.
Another nice feature to consider would be resizable node's frames. Sometimes we use long object's names, which are not fully visible in those frames.
Best regards!

+1
and... I just have situation that I could use some kind of new ID SELECTOR NODE with NUMBERS to ENTER witch will correspond to INDEX expression "Return - XSplineMatID;"
eg.
I have blueprints for a building and windows/doors are marked like:
2.1
2.4
3.12
3.14
6.23
etc..
So for easy tracking I set Spline ID like:
21 for 2.1
24 for 2.4
312 for 3.12
314 for 3.14
623 for 6.23
...(I`m not sure what is limitation for ID... 999? or more...)
Now, for organize segments I have to use either Separate Generator foe each Spline ID or some kind of sequence Conditional operator with MatID filter or Selector with Expression that will sort all my ID nubers to 1,2,3,4,5,...n sequence...
Bottom line:
my Selector will look like:
ID _ SELECTOR
21 | Default Window 2.1
24 | Transform Window 2.4
312 | Transform Door 3.12
314 | Default Door 3.14
623 | Default Window 6.23
INDEX = Return XSplineMatID;"
Hope it make any sense :D
P.S. Or there is easy solution for that kind of problem but I`m to stupid to solve it :o :o

Counter next to an input will be in next major RC version.
Resizable node frames added to consideration/todo list.

Hi, currently the node is resized to fit its name in the frame (until certain limit).
You can expand it adding some spaces to the node name.
