Hi all,
I try to achieve a tile curved wall with windows frames.
So i use a simple Array 2S genrator, as you can see above : blue spline is the "path", yellow spline "the height" and green spline "the windows frames".
Unfortunately, the clipping area does not cut properly, it seems it does not follow the curved path.
Any Idea how to solve this ?
Thank you in advance.
Best Regards,
Nicolas
PS : I attached the max file (2020)

Hi,
I'm afraid that's a limitation of how clipping in RailClone works. It doesn't follow the spline but projects the clipping area based on the axis chosen in the Generator's Clipping settings.

The axis is defined by the RailClone object's local rotation, so you could try rotating the object and reassigning the spline to better match the angle of the path. If that's not enough, you could also try splitting it into multiple RailClone objects to approximate the curve.
Failing that, disabling the instancing engine and using regular max booleans might be the easiest way.
Cheers,
Paul

Hello Paul,
Thank you for your answer.
Yes you probably right about the limitation of clipping method.
I already tested with boolean (and proboolean), it's ok but ...it's boolean
Anyway, thank you again. And if you manage to find another solution, I'll be around :)
Best regards,
Nicolas

It is possible to use a mod. shell for doors/windows and then assign it to a transparency via VrayDistance tex.
