Title: Troubleshooting Corners Of Triple Stone Arch Trim
Post by: Bearded4Glory on February 23, 2015, 03:07:09 AM
Hello,
First I would like to say that railclone is really making my life easy.  I have run into a little snag and can not seem to find a way around it, hoping there is a setting I am missing.

I have to draw a piece of stone trim that contains 3 arches, the problem is that they are so close together that the inside corners run into one another.  The pictures explain it better than I ever could.

Looks good, grout is evenly distributed but at the top "V" shaped corners there is some overlapping going on.

Here is a more detailed view

I guess if worst comes to worst I can just make the profile slightly smaller but I would like it to be this size or maybe even bigger if possible.  The spline controlling the railclone objects is following the lower edge and is just 3 1/2 circles with short lines connecting them.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you find RailClone useful in your work. I've tried a number of tests but I'm afraid at present I cannot see a workaround for this problem that does not involve either making the segment smaller or manually editing the final mesh to clean it up. RailClone calculates each corner independently and isn't able to detect if segments from other parts of the array are overlapping. I'm sorry I couldn't help more in this case. If I can work out a simpler solution I'll update this thread.

Many thanks,

Paul
