UM Mapping elements
« on: December 17, 2019, 12:39:37 PM »
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to make a very simple stairs.

Is there anyway to map the elements in different way?

possible to do that applying different ID and then using the multimaterial?

also, is it possible to make it follow the handrails?

I just tried to replicate Your scene and it works here fine:

Probably I did something wrong. But without file can's say what.

it's actually more probal the problem is mine.
i come from c4d and after 10 years is difficult to change habits.
but I'm trying.

file attached, it's probably a big mess, so any tips are appreciated :)

anyway, I applied the material at the RC object but I don't see any projection, and it appears only if I put the uwmap modifier to the RC object.

is this way to proceed wrong?
should I work on the original asset, putting the correct projection on it and evetually work on the RC object?

sorry for the silly questions

Thanks for file

As You are using Scanline rendere, You need to disable instancing engine.
Select RailClone object
Remove UVW modifier,
Disable instancing engine and manually rebuild RailClone

Hope this helps.

Should You work on the original asset, putting the correct projection on it and evetually work on the RC object?
yes, generally it is better workflow. Assign the same material to Your segments and Whole RC model.

I just need to get faster in the mapping process and understand more stuff now.

thanks for helping.

actually....
something I don't get.

repetitions.
watching the "getting start" I thought I should have tick the "box mapping"...but again, I'm messing it up.

And what will happen when the segment is rotated inside the generator? I think mapping will not follow rotation. I had a similar problem. And there was a topic about this:
