So I'm trying to move over to 3ds Max 2020.
Therefor, I need to roll out and deploy the 2020 versions of Forest & Railclone.
Once I do that though, the plugins for 2019 are removed, which I need for the transitional period from one version to the next.
this is the command I use with the deployment (using Emco Remote Installer)
/S /MAXVER=max2020-64 /MAXDIR="C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2020\"/LICMODE=network /LICHOST=alias.domain.local
Even if I do MAXVER=max2019-64,max2020-64
they get removed (instead of updating the 2019 plugins)
I seem to recall that this didn't happen with previous versions if I had seperate deployment packages for different maxversions.
So I had Railclone 3.0.x installed with 2018, I would deploy 3.2.x for 2019 and they would both coexist (eventhough add/remove programs would only show one installed version)
I must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it ground our move to 2020 to a halt.
I prefer not to manually update 36 rendernodes + 40 workstations if I can help it.

There is no unattended option to upgrade only one version of 3ds Max that You have with standard installation.

Apologies for that.

well, I wouldn't necessarily mind if the 2019 plugins got updated as well,
but that doesn't appear to work either ?
So, can I deploy Forest & railclone and install them for both 2019 & 2020 ?

Running commandline two times with different settings seems to work correctly:

ok, thank you so much for confirming.
I'll test it out over here see what happens if I upgrade 2019 first then deploy the 2020 version.
thanks again.

I just want to confirm that if I upgrade the 2019 plugins, the deployment of the 202 plugins won't remove them and I have Railclone / forest
in both max versions.

Just out of curriosity, are there any plans to 'update' Unattended install to solve this ? Can we put this on the table ? I can imagine there are companies
with even more machines than our 35 rendernodes/30 workstations office that would want to update just 1 version without the other getting deinstalled ?

No plans for this. This is meant only for special cases to help troubleshoot the issues. We do not recommend to leave this configuration in production environment.
