X Rotation acts like a scale with surface
« on: December 09, 2016, 11:41:56 AM »
Hi,
I'm trying to make a wall with a 2D array.
If I add a Surface, the x rotation acts like a scale instead of actually rotating the wall.
What can I do about that?

Hi,

The surface is projected along the Z axis to conform the array to it, which is not corresponding to intended orientation when using the X Rotation feature. I would suggest you to rotate the whole RC instead and set the X Rotation to defaults 0º. That should fix it.

Please feel free to have a look at the chapter 5 - How to use Surfaces of our Next Steps with RailClone guide. Hope you'll find it interesting and helpful.

Best regadrs,

Thanks for the quick reply

What do you mean with "rotate the whole RC" rotate the railclone Object? That dosn't work, its not following the surface of the ground and my shape is more lke a square than a straight line.

There is the glue plugin at the end of that page, will try that. Btw the link (headline) of the glue plugin seems to point to the wrong location  ;)

Hi,

Oops, thanks for reporting it. The free Glue Utility can be downloaded from this site / using this direct link. We'll fix it.

I guess, that mighth be a good option for your set-up, as mentioned there: "... if you need an A2S array which has been rotated using the Generator's X-Rotate feature to follow a surface. At present RailClone's surface feature does not work with this configuration so as a workaround you can manually create the spline using the Glue plugin"

Best regards,
