Update manager won't start
« on: July 17, 2017, 05:09:03 PM »
Just upgraded to latest version.
Update manager won't start.
I can click the icon all day but nothing happens.
I've made sure it's whitelisted on my firewall.
Tried changes install path.
Administrator rights.
Win7 compatibility mode.
Nothing.
Please help.

Hi,

Please, Can you send us the log file? You can find it at  C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Itoo Software\Update Manager\update.log, which include details about the download process.

Just in case you don't have this file, we would need to Check the Application Event Log for Errors. With that tool windows will help us to understand whats happening. Please follow the next links:

1.- How to open the Event Viewer.
2.- Checking Application events (just see if there is some event related with UpdateManager.exe)

Greetings. Pablo :)

Hi there,

after reviewing your case we need more information.  What OS are you running?

We tried to reproduce the problem but it was imposible. Please, can you reinstall everything with the configuration by default and check if the problem persists?

We will launch an updated version of Update Manager soon. (probably tomorrow) Hopefully your problems will disapear.

Greetings. Pablo :)

Hi Pablo,

I'm in Windows7(64).
All drivers up to date.

Done several clean installations of Railclone before even coming to the forum to post for help. Nothing works.
Never had issues installing or updating anything.
Your 'Update' manager has the questionable honor of being the first app.
Yes here's to hoping the updated update manager at least starts.
Given the fact I now can't work with Railclone, that would be very welcome.

Of course it did nothing.
Given the fact my issue has nothing to do with offline installation, I can't say I'm surprised.
So what happens now?

By any weird reason I uploaded even an older version that added even more bugs ( ::) )
Please, accept my apologies and download that verified new version.

Progress! Now Update Manager starts.
Do I need a special version of Update Manager for my License/Product to be recognized
or shall I just leave it running for some weeks and pray it will all fix itself?  :o

Finally your log will not be necessary.

We have detected that your forest pack version is too old. Please, Can you tell us wich version of Forest Pack are you using to find a better solution?

To fix your problem please apply the attached registry path.

Greetings. Pablo :)

Hi Pablo,

Finally everything seems to work. Phew  ;D
You're right on that my Forest Pack version must be very old cause I don't use it nor did I ever.
Perhaps I installed a trial or so a long time back? I can't recall but it's possible.

Many thanks for the persisting assistance.
Have a great weekend!
