Box Mapping Rotation
« on: July 30, 2021, 03:09:24 PM »
Hello!

As many people discussed before, I'm having difficulties to arrange my UV directions with box mapping option. Is it possible to rotate box mapping other than single axis? Same like 3ds max's gizmo thing.
It looks like RC's box mapping overwrites max's mapping. If I don't use box mapping I can't achieve continuous wood textures. I'm frustrated...  :'(

That L shaped cover created with two separate boxes so I can change their positions, lengths etc.

I forgot to add, I solved this with nested generators. Sometimes I add extra A2S to create simple geometries like this just to solve this UV direction issues.
I believe it may be much more nicer if we have an axis option.

Thanks for the suggestion, we've added it to our wish list. I often solve that issue by using two materials, one with the textures rotated 90 degrees. I find I can then target those problem areas using a different material ID and use box mapping with no issues. It's a bit more set up, but you might find it's more efficient than nesting generators.

Cheers,
